Cherry Creek Schools

The Cherry Creek School District is one of the highest achieving districts in the state.  Officially known as Cherry Creek 5, they are consistently a top-rated school district in Colorado and nationally. Both Grandview and Cherokee Trail High Schools have earned the Silver Medal and Cherry Creek High School earned the Gold Medal from U.S.News & World Report as three of the best high schools in the country. They have also been recognized for their academics, music, theater, and athletic excellence.

Many schools in the district have earned the John Irwin School of Excellence award from the state and a few have earned the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School award. Some schools like Homestead Elementary have earned both.

Several members of the Tom Gross Team have in-depth knowledge and experience with the Cherry Creek School District.  Tom Gross, Lori Gross and Britt Armstrong, have all completed the intensive nine-month Cherry Creek Leadership program. This exclusive program gives a small group of community leaders the opportunity to learn about all facets of the school district over a full school year.  In addition, Tom Gross serves on the Cherry Creek School District Long Range Facility Planning Committee as a district representative to provide input into new construction, renovations, attendance boundaries and calendar issues.

Tom and Lori Gross have two children and have been involved as parents and active volunteers in Cherry Creek Schools for over 15 years.  Both girls started kindergarten at Indian Ridge Elementary and their youngest recently graduated from Grandview High School. Britt Armstrong attended Cherry Creek Schools and is a graduate of Cherry Creek School.

Selecting a school district or specific schools is often a critical decision for many home buyers. We recommend that parents visit schools of interest. National rating systems and state assessment information are certainly useful, but they do not reflect the culture and unique attributes of a school.

Cherry Creek Schools offer a broad variety of programs for students including charter schools, gifted and talented, pre-school, Special Education, English Language Acquisition (ELA), STEM, AVID, theater, choir, band, orchestra, sports and more!

All high schools offer college-level AP courses and concurrent education.  The International Baccalaureate curriculum is offered at Cherokee Trail and Smoky Hill High SchoolsCareer and technical education is also available including an automotive program, aviation, computer science, photography, fashion, hospitality, and more! Career and Technical Education is consolidated in a new state-of-the-art facility - Career and Innovation Academy.

The district is home to over 54,000 students and serves over 300,000 residents in 108 square miles that spread across eight municipalities: Cherry Hills Village, Centennial, Foxfield, Glendale, Greenwood Village and portions of Aurora, Englewood and Denver.

School choice is an option in the Cherry Creek School District. School choice opportunities are driven by school enrollment and decisions are primarily determined by the principal of the school. If you are interested in pursuing a school choice, we recommend initiating the process in early January.
